Project Summary

The primary objective of this project is to prepare nursing students for real-life situations in Intensive Care Units (ICUs) and improve the quality of care provided by nursing graduates. It aims to enhance nursing education at a transnational European level by promoting the exchange of good practices and demonstrating the potential of Augmented Reality (AR) technology and simulation in Health and in Higher Education Institutions (HEIs). The consortium, including University of West Attica (GR), University Degli Studi Di Parma (IT), University College Dublin (IE) και Mitropolitiko College (GR), will undertake various activities such as Needs Assessment on AR nursing education, Software Development, Training, Curriculum Development, Pilot Testing, Refinement, and Implementation. The final activity involves implementing the AR simulations into the intensive care education curriculum, providing access to all nursing students, and evaluating their effectiveness in achieving learning objectives. The use of AR technology and simulation will offer a unique learning experience, enabling students to interact with the environment and patients in a virtual safe setting. This hands-on experience will aid in grasping complex concepts and retaining information. The project will foster collaboration among universities and experts in nursing education to develop innovative teaching methods using AR technology and simulation​.
