Aims and Objectives

The “ICU Follow-up Care Lab” provides health monitoring and a range of follow-up services for ICU adult patients following their hospital discharge. Patient follow-up clinics will take place in a hospital setting as scheduled outpatient appointments, post-hospital discharge. Patients will be reviewed/followed up at the hospital where they had been treated.

The main goals of the laboratory are the following:

  • The timely detection of potentially threatening health conditions in order to maintain and ensure patients’ recovery and good health.

  • Their immediate and timely referral to the hospital for readmission in order to avoid or treat any adverse outcomes.

  • The reduction of patient mortality rate outside/post ICU facilities.

  • To develop strategies that aim to improve patient safety and quality of life

  • The establishment and strengthening of interdisciplinary collaboration across health care professionals for the best interest of ICU patients.
