Special Operating Rules for Relational Units

Adminisrative and Research activites of the “ICU Follow-up Care Lab ” are supported by two (2) relational units. Specifically:

 

Α. Administrative Services Office

The Administrative Services Office is managed by the Director and the faculty members of the “ICU Follow-up Care Lab “. The office is located at the University of West Attica, at the Egaleo Park Campus, K13.202 and its main responsibilities are:

1. maintaining the proceedings and accounting reports of the Laboratory

2. maintaining the Laboratory’s archives

3. supporting the entire range of the Laboratory’s activities (educational /research).

Β. Office of Nursing Practice, Research and Development

The Office of Nursing Practice Research and Development is a supervised unit of the ” ICU Follow-up Care Lab “. The office is located at the General Hospital “Korgialenio – Benakio Hellenic Red Cross” and its responsibilities concern post-discharge monitoring and follow-up of patients who have been hospitalized in Intensive Care Units.

1. Responsible for the operation of the Office of Nursing Practice Research and Development is the Director of the ” ICU Follow-up Care Lab ” and a faculty member, appointed by the General Assembly of the Nursing Department.

 

2. The office staff is comprised by:

– Faculty members who are members of the staff of the ” ICU Follow-up Care Lab “,

– Novice researchers non-PhD holders, and with less than 4 years of research experience,

– Experienced researchers holding a PhD, and with more than 4 years of research experience

– Nursing staff of the NHS.

It is noted that each associate – member of the ” ICU Follow-up Care Lab ” will act in accordance with the provisions of Law 4624 of 2019 (Government Gazette 137/ t. A’/ 29-08-2019) and specifically as defined by Articles 38 (On Criminal Sanctions), 51 (On Confidentiality) and 62 (On Security of Processing), by the Criminal Code as defined by Article 370 (On Confidentiality of Electronic Correspondence) and 371 (On Breach of Professional Confidentiality) and by the Constitution of Greece (Government Gazette A 211/24. 12.2019) and specifically as stipulated in Article 19 (On Confidentiality of Letters or Communication in any other way). In the event that it is established, at any time, that the provisions are violated, he/she is immediately removed as a member of the “ICU Follow-up Care Lab ” and assumes exclusive responsibility towards the law.

3. The Office operates during the working days in accordance with the internal regulations of the Laboratory. In particular, working hours and access to the Office are from 08.00 am – 15.00 pm. The use of the Office facilities beyond the working hours schedule may be permitted with the approval of the Director of the Laboratory.

4. The activities of the Office of Nursing Practice Research and Development focus on addressing the health care and nursing needs of the NHS Organisations, mainly regarding the post-hospital follow-up of patients who have been hospitalized in Intensive Care Units. In addition, the Office activities focus on:

(a) addressing and promoting the research requirements of the Laboratory,

(b) promoting research collaborations at an academic and interdisciplinary level

(c) addressing educational and teaching needs of nurse students and nursing staff,

in Intensive Care Nursing, Cardiology and Cardiac Surgery Nursing, Respiratory Care

Nursing and related fields, at an undergraduate and postgraduate level

(d) initiating and supporting research projects at a postgraduate, doctoral and

postdoctoral level on topics relevant to the objectives of the Laboratory.

Other provisions

1. Collaborating members of the Laboratory, upon reasoned request to the Director of the Laboratory, may suspend their cooperation. The maximum duration of the suspension may not exceed two (2) years. Suspension of cooperation shall be approved in case of (i) serious health problems, (ii) pregnancy, (iii) military service, or (iv) other serious personal or family reasons.

2. Collaborating members may apply, upon a reasoned request to the Director of the Laboratory, to be withdrawn from the Registry of Active Members of the Laboratory and receive a Certificate of Withdrawal.

3. In case the applicant has already been given a Certificate of Membership of the ICU Follow-up Care Laboratory from the Registry of Active Members of the Laboratory, the Laboratory’s Secretariat shall request its return and an official affirmation document that it has not been used by the withdrawn member at any government, public or private agency. If so, the Laboratory Secretariat should send a written notification to the applicant, asking for an official affirmation document that the Certificate will be withdrawn from the Agency.

4. Amendment or revision of the special operating rules for relational units of the ICU Follow-up Care Laboratory may be approved at any time by the ICU Follow-up Care Lab Assembly.

5. The special operating rules for relational units of the ICU Follow-up Care Laboratory are activated since the date of its approval (02/02/2022).
